A newsletter signup is an invitation to receive future emails. Say what people are signing up for and honour their choice.
Before you begin
This guide is for putting a Beehiiv newsletter form on a separate website. It does not cover writing your first issue or the existing Systeme.io PDF-request form.
You need a Beehiiv publication, access to a website page that accepts the provider's script, and a clear explanation of what people will receive. Beehiiv lists embedded forms on all plans; check your account for current options.
1. Create the form
In Beehiiv, select your intended publication. Open Subscribers > Subscribe forms and choose Create new form. Give it a descriptive internal name such as Website newsletter form.
In Content, write a short title and description. Keep the required email field and a clear Subscribe button. Tell people that signing up is for the newsletter; link your privacy policy and avoid promising a schedule or download you have not arranged.
2. Choose the layout and response
Under Style, choose Regular and Inline. Inline places the form where you put the code; Regular supports a fuller layout and stacks more comfortably on smaller screens.
Under Settings, choose an appropriate success message. If confirmation is required, tell the reader to check their inbox. Review double opt-in for this form and the publication before testing; the confirmation experience can differ by account settings.
3. Save, publish and copy
Use the arrow beside Save changes to save and get the embed code. Saving and publishing are separate: Beehiiv says an existing live embed continues to show its previously published version until you explicitly publish the changes. When ready, use the Get embed code menu to publish the form.
Copy the complete embed script provided for your own form. Do not use a sample script or someone else's identifier. The code belongs on your site, while Beehiiv manages the form itself.
4. Put it on your page
In your site editor, open the article or page where the form should appear. Add a custom HTML/embed block, or paste the provider's script into the relevant body section of a static HTML page. Place it once at the intended location; save your changes and use your host's normal publication process.
Some website editors restrict scripts or need a different embed control. Check the platform's own instructions if the block strips the code. If you cannot add scripts, use your real Beehiiv signup-page link instead.
5. Test as a reader
Open the published page on desktop and mobile. Confirm the form appears once, the text is readable, and the privacy link works. In a private window, submit an address you control only if you are ready to create a test subscription.
Look for the success message and any confirmation email; complete confirmation if required. Check Beehiiv for the resulting subscriber and the expected status. A visit alone does not subscribe someone, and a success message alone is not proof that a required confirmation was completed.
If it does not work
No form? Confirm both the Beehiiv form and your website page were published; check the full script and whether the site permits it. Try a private window if a browser extension may be interfering.
No subscriber? Check confirmation settings and whether the test address was already subscribed. Avoid repeated submissions. Beehiiv's external embedded forms do not use the multi-step signup flows built for its own website; they can use their own success message or single redirect.
A useful next step
A signup form gathers an audience only when people choose to subscribe. This example does not connect the form to a PDF, add a second list, or import existing contacts. Decide what you will send and deliver on that promise. When you are ready to write an issue, follow our first Beehiiv newsletter walkthrough for the editor, audience and publishing steps.
The existing Systeme.io walkthrough covers its own signup and PDF delivery route. Use that guide for Systeme.io; this page is specifically about Beehiiv forms on an outside site.
